Adams Democratic chairman elected to South Central leadership position
The chairman of the Adams County Democratic Committee, Roger Lund, was recently elected as chair of the South Central Caucus on the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee. This caucus is one of eight across the state. The South Central Caucus includes Adams, York, Franklin, Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry and Lebanon counties.
Lund, who resides in New Oxford, is the first person ever elected from Adams County to this position. “Adams County is the smallest of the seven counties in our caucus in terms of delegates, so it is a great honor that my peers chose me to lead the caucus for the next four years,” said Chairman Lund. “My message of sharing the best practices that we all have so each of our county committees can grow resonated with the caucus. I am humbled by their support and that I received votes from every single county delegation.”
Also elected within the caucus were Peggy Grove (Dauphin County), vice-chair and Jacqueline Smith-Bennett (Cumberland County) treasurer. Chad Baker (York County) was appointed secretary. Lund was also re-elected to the Pennsylvania Democratic Executive Committee by the members of the 33rd Senate District Caucus.
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party elected a new chair, Jim Burn, from Allegheny County. They also elected vice chair Penny Gerber from Montgomery County. Ann Bursis was re-elected Treasurer.
“We have a great team in place as we move to the elections in the fall,” said chairman Lund. “That Adams County and our region will now have a greater role in that effort is exciting.”
